Privacy Policy — Arcana
Last updated: 11 September 2026 · Effective: 11 September 2026
In short: Arcana has no accounts, no server, and no database. We never collect, receive, or store your personal information.
Everything you do in the app — your daily card, your journal, your settings — stays on your own phone. The question you type is never saved and never leaves your device.
The one exception is advertising: Google AdMob shows ads inside the app and collects data under its own privacy policy. You can opt out — see section 4.
1. Who we are
Arcana ("the app") is published by JBRO Company. This policy explains how the app
handles information. It applies to the Arcana Android application
(package com.obok.arcana) and to no other product.
2. Information we do not collect
We want to be specific, because "we value your privacy" means nothing on its own. The app does not collect, transmit, or store any of the following:
- Your name, email address, phone number, or date of birth
- Any account or login credentials — the app has no sign-up and no sign-in
- Your location
- Your contacts, photos, files, camera, or microphone
- The question you type before a reading. It is held in memory only while the reading is on screen, and is discarded when you leave it. It is never written to storage and never sent anywhere.
Arcana has no server and no backend database. There is no place for us to keep your data even if we wanted to.
3. Information stored on your device
The app saves a small amount of data in your phone's local app storage so it can work between sessions. This data never leaves your device and is not readable by us.
| What | Why it exists |
|---|---|
| Today's card | So that reopening the app on the same day shows the same card instead of drawing a new one. Stores the date, the card identifiers, and whether you have revealed them. |
| Journal (up to 60 entries) | Your recent readings. Stores a timestamp, which spread was used, and which card identifiers were drawn. It does not store your question. |
| A random device value | A random string generated on first launch, mixed into the daily-card calculation so that different people receive different cards on the same day. It is generated by the app itself, is not a device or advertising identifier, and is not sent anywhere. |
| Settings | Your chosen language and whether reversed cards are enabled. |
| First-launch flag | So the introduction is shown only once. |
You can erase this at any time. Open Settings → Clear saved data in the app. Uninstalling the app also removes all of it. Because the data is only on your device, there is nothing for us to delete on our side.
4. Advertising (Google AdMob)
Arcana is free and is funded by advertising. We use Google AdMob to display a banner advertisement and occasional full-screen advertisements.
To serve and measure ads, Google may collect and process information such as your device's advertising identifier, IP address, device and operating-system details, and general interaction with the ads. This processing is carried out by Google as an independent controller under its own terms, not by us. We do not receive your personal information from Google — only anonymous, aggregated performance figures such as the number of impressions.

Your control. On Android you can reset or delete your advertising ID, and opt out of ad personalisation, in Settings → Privacy → Ads (the exact path varies by manufacturer and Android version). Deleting the advertising ID stops personalised advertising; you will still see non-personalised ads.
5. Sharing a reading
The share feature passes text to whichever app you choose (messaging, social, notes). That text contains only the name of the card or cards and their keywords. The question you typed is deliberately excluded. Nothing is shared unless you tap share and choose a destination yourself, and what happens to it afterwards is governed by the app you sent it to.
6. Internet access
The app requests the INTERNET permission. It is used for one purpose: loading
advertisements. All tarot content — the 78 cards, their artwork, and every interpretation in
all nine languages — is bundled inside the app itself. Readings work with no network
connection at all.
7. Children
Arcana is not directed at children. It is not intended for use by anyone under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets a higher age), and we do not knowingly collect information from children. The app is rated accordingly on the Google Play Store.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, or to object to its processing — for example under the GDPR in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, or under the CCPA/CPRA in California.
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to retrieve, correct, or erase. Data stored on your device is under your direct control (section 3). For data processed by Google in connection with advertising, please exercise your rights through Google using the links in section 4. We do not sell or share personal information, as those terms are defined by the CCPA/CPRA.
9. International transfers
We transfer no data internationally, because we transfer no data at all. Google may process advertising data on servers outside your country under its own safeguards.
10. Security
Data saved by the app is kept in your device's private application storage, which the operating system isolates from other apps. Keeping your device updated and protected by a screen lock is the most effective protection for it.
11. Entertainment only
Arcana is provided for entertainment and self-reflection. Readings are generated by a deterministic program from the cards drawn. They are not professional advice and must not be relied upon for medical, psychological, legal, or financial decisions. For matters of health, law, or money, please consult a qualified professional.
12. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new "last updated" date. Material changes will also be noted in the app's Google Play listing.
